Grey's Anatomy

I decided to watch Grey's Anatomy with Katina this season. We hardly get to sit down together. The problem in my head I think the show is a medical drama. When it really is a show about relationships with the setting being a hospital. I have to admit I like how the subject/theme for the episode is intertwined in all aspects. I also like the narrator part. I still laugh at how one second they are worried about a person dying and someone will say "I am your half sister."

PS Thanks Katina for putting up with my laughing. I will work on that.

Are these Salt Shakers politically correct?

NOTHING TO HIDE

We went to CO this past weekend. The girls were great on the plane ride. We were going through security. We told the girls we have to take off our shoes. Chloe took her shoes off and then started to take off her pants. I was thinking the way security is going maybe some day we will be taking off our pants. She is to funny. Thanks for making us laugh.

Advise

My four year old asked me:

Why does your "pee-pee" stick out and mine is a hole? I wanted to get out my 5th grade overheads and tell her all about it. I stopped and said that is how God made us. She said that is strange.

Dinner Tonight

I was makingl a Let's Dish meal. To learn more about that go to http://www.letsdish.com/. It was a "Indian chicken" meal. When Katina came home the first thing she said was "It smells like an Indian Kitchen" I did not know if that was a complement or not. She went on to say it smells more Indian then some of her Indian friends. I guess my wife is not PC

A great place

I was in Toledo last week visiting friends. We went to a great place called Tony Packo's Cafe http://www.tonypackos.com/. The service was AWESOME. Everyone in the restaurant was very nice. On the menu they have something called M.O.A.H. It is the mother of all Hog dogs. I asked if I could just take a picture of it. Instead they upgraded my meal so I could try it and take a picture. I did not finish it but I did like it. I also loved the pickles. If you are near Toledo, Tony Packo's Cafe is a most.

Priorities and happiness

Should priorities and happiness go hand and hand? Evan Almighty is a very good movie that addresses priorities. I have been thinking about priorities a lot. Do values and priorities go hand and hand? A lot of questions I have been thinking about.

speechless

My four year old came to me at the table and said " Daddy I have a serious question for you?" I said "What is it?" She said " How did you and mommy make me?" I was speechless. The only thing I could think of was "I will tell you when you are in fifth grade". She then said "What is fifth grade? Which I answered!

She was called "Chappell"

My grandmother who was 87 years old passed away Monday morning. My mom was talking about what she had learned from Chappell. I thought I would do a Top Ten list things I have learned from Chappell.

Relationships matter

Katina has been going to the same hairdresser for 10 years. I thought that was silly. I was so wrong this week. I needed a haircut and a shave. For the past four years I have gone to a salon (once). Katina wanted me to. I hated it. I went to a local barber near the house. When they would give me a shave. The man would bring out the electric trimmers. I never really liked that. In the early 90's Mike Fortune and I would get our haircuts at a place called Flower Barber Shop. It is on Flower Ave in a multicultural section of town. Mike moved away and I would still go there. They would say when I walked in "Do you want the usual?" They knew me. When we shaved they used a straight edge. It was like the "old fashion way" My face felt like a babies butt. It was so smooth and soft. It was a classic shave. Last Monday I went back. When I walked in the man said long time no see. He remembered me. While I was getting the shave. He asked me where I had been. I saw the straight edge in his name and I did not want to tell him I was "dating around". I just said I moved. Which was true. Flower Barber Shop sorry about the four year break but I am back.

Golf Lesson

On Sunday Mike Herbert gave me a two and a half hour FREE golf lesson. I made contact with about 124 balls out of 135. Some day I will have that form.

The doctor wants to see you (part 2)

I have been sitting in the waiting room for about an hour when the nurse comes out and says the doctor wants to see you. I am thinking why? Are you going to say sorry for not holding the door. I walk into the room where Katina is lying down "out of it". The doctor says "She is stable now but she was having some complications with the anesthetic (drugs) so we stopped the surgery. The complications could have been FATAL. I am shocked. I am thinking you did just say fatal. The anesthesiologist when to the great details about everything. They want us to see if she has Malignant Hypothermia.

I have tears in my eyes and my hands still shake right now still thinking. What would I tell my girls? If they did not side on the side of precaution. Thank you anesthesiologist and doctor for doing that. It is not an inconvenience.

PS I am not mad at the doctor anymore.

Tonsils and Fire (part 1)

Today was the day Katina was going to have her tonsils RE taken out. Her surgery was going to take place at 9am. I drop off the girls and got to the building where the procedure was going to take place. I was sitting for about 5 minutes when the fire alarm went off. I was thinking what are they going to do with Katina if this was a real fire. Would they make me leave? I was having a thousand thoughts go through my head. When I saw her come out with her robe on and an IV bag in her hand. The nurse said to walk her down the stairwell with her IV bag. The whole time I am thinking where is my camera. The alarm was nothing and we were back in the building in about 20 minutes. On the way in the doctor who was going to do the procedure did not hold the door for me. I did not say anything but I was mad.

Oprah put me to sleep

Today I did something I have never done before and I hope I never do again. I was at a red light and I fell asleep. I woke when the car behind me honked the horn. I made it home safe. I turned on the TV and it was on ABC. Oprah was talking to a lady that fell asleep at the wheel and killed three of her kids. I turned the TV off and went upstairs to take a nap. Thanks Oprah!

Do they look related?

This past week my nephew Xander and my sister have been in town. My girls love playing with their cousin "baby Xander". It was really neat to see how they all look alike.

MOTHER'S DAY

We had a great time. Katina said she loved it. My mom said it was lovely. My girls were very good at the restaurant. It was beautiful weather. It was an AWESOME day. Thank you all.

Grossology

The family went to the Science Center to go to the grossology exhibit. It was about the digestive system, burps, farts, etc. At every different exhibit someone said "This is gross." I thought what did you think it was going to be. It was a very informative exhibit. I heard that next month they are going to do "Animal Grossology." I hope that is gross also. By the way how many of you can say your children went down the intestines and landed on a brown mat.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Last week was Teacher appreciation week. I got the usually flowers, cards and chocolate. I understand I am in a field of many women. I wish I could get something I could use or eat. The Greene family gave me a Great gift. Thanks so much.

OVER RATED

On Saturday night Katina and I watched Dreamgirls. I am not a fan of musicals. It has to be very good for me to like it. I am going to see High School Musical in June. We will see if I like that. I do not understand why during a part of Dreamgirls. One of the characters is doing crack and the "girlfriend" breaks out in song. It wrecked the moment for me. I would have liked to watch a concert with the true Supremes.

Different way to Witness

On Thursday I have a class called Introduction to Astronomy. We got on to the topic of how the moon was formed. The Big Bang Theory was talked about. While the teacher was talking about 13 billion years ago something just happen that caused all of this. She paused and one of my classmates phones started to "ring" the song "When I call on Jesus All Things Are Possible". The lady could not get the the phone quick enough so it went on for a while very loud. I thought what a witnessing tool.

THE MALL

Yesterday the family went to the mall for the afternoon. I have to say it was fun. Katina impressed me when she asked for a discount at a store. Marissa was great picking out shoes. Chloe was a woman after my owe heart. We went into a card shop to get Mother's day cards. I showed them the section and told them to pick one. Chloe picks up the first card and says "This one." Quick and Easy. Katina told me about a new place in the eatry and it was great. Thanks again for a great time.

PROBLEMS

I have a problem with listening. I need to listen and reflect more. I speak before I think. Those things get me in trouble. I am sorry for not listening. I need to go to the library and read about listening.

PICK UP LINE

Katina and I have started a "life change" in the way we eat. We are getting help from www.thebestlife.com They give you set menus for each meal. One of the breakfast called for Slim Fast. I was at the check out line. I was in my owe world when I heard the check-out lady in a loud, puzzled voice say"Slim Fast?!?". I was very surprised so I said is there a problem with Slim Fast. I did not know if she had heard of a recall or something. She said while she was looking me up and down "Their is no problem. Just a person that looks like you! Does not need slim fast" WOW I think I was hit on. If she was a waitress I would have given her a big tip.

Another reason to love America

Thank God I can kiss my wife in public and not have to worry. Just another reason to love America.

RADIO STATION

I found a new Christian radio station. It is Praise 104.1. It is a "gospel" station. I love it. I was think about changing my FM1 from WGTS 91.9 to Praise 104.1 I wish that a station would combine "contemporary" and "gospel" together. WGTS has something on Saturday night called reflections but it is not the same. I do not know if having one hour a week is better or worse then nothing at all. When I win the 300 million dollar lottery I will make a station that plays a little of everything at is update in Christian music.

WEAK TRASHMAN

For three weeks I have had yard trimming to be recycled on the curb. Every week I get a note that says over 45 pounds will not move. The first week I did nothing. I thought I pay high montgomery county taxes. They did nothing. The second week I removed half of the stuff in the can. Same note. The three week I told out a scale. It said 95 pounds so I took it down the hill. I would hate for the trashman to hurt his back. I need a hot tub now.

MUSTARD

I love a lot of mustard on my hot dogs. The problem is that my mustard likes my white shirts. My wife thinks I should wear a bib when I eat hot dogs.

Mow the Lawn

It makes me mad that my 19 year old neighbor does not mow the lawn. For some reason everytime I am mowing the lawn he is around. I think to myself. You need to be mowing the lawn. His chore is to pick up the trash around the house. Tonight I saw him in the driver's seat of his parents car. I asked his mother if he is driving. She said no. She said she is to nervous to teach him to drive. I thought maybe you should teach him to mow the lawn first.

Surprise myself

My wife is very good at taking the girls out by herself. She is awesome at making them breakfast and lunch. I have always been worried about stuff like that. I know I could do it but I have been worried. Maybe it is a guy thing. I do not know. SundayI impressed myself. My youngest just changed to a toddler bed. We had not tried to give her a nap in the bed. I did it. I was so proud of myself. My oldest and I did a puzzle while she was a sleep. After that I took them in the rain by myself to Tutu's house.

SEX

My church is very cutting edge. Last Saturday our senior Pastor David Newman started a series about sex. It seems like it is going to be very interesting. The only problem was that he had to people sing "Endless Love" with slides. One of the slides was of Jessie Simpson and Nick ? They are know longer in endless love. Otherwise great job in tackling an important issue like sex.

Elephant, Hippo and a Sippe Cup

What does an Elephant, Hippo and a sippe Cup have in common. They are the animals/things that were accused when someone wet the bed. My four year old just got a "big" bed. This morning I came in her room because she was crying. I saw she was wet in the bottom area. I said "It is ok that you wet the bed". She said in a very clear voice "It was the Sippe Cup". After reviewing the evidence it was not the sippe cup but I did not tell her the difference.

TWO CUPS

I have a pet peeve about caffeine. I do not understand my "hatred" for it. I am trying to be more open about the issue. My wife, who is awesome, drinks a cup of coffee in the morning. I have decided to make it for her. I think that will help with my negative attitude towards it. This morning I was making the coffee and my two year old ask me "What I was doing?" and I said "I was making mommy her coffee". She responded with "I will have drink it when I am older." My first thought was OH BOY!!! very negative. Then I changed it to a positive and thought I will someday be making two cups in the morning.

REDSKINS SCHEDULE

getting old

Today in the mail I got something from my college reminding me that my 10 year reunion is this year. For a moment I felt old!!! Then I remember what I have done in the last 10 years that I would never change.

What is a blog?

A friend of mine said I like to talk alot. I told him that sometimes people do not like to listen. He said maybe you should blog. He said blogging is away to get your thoughts out with out having to have someone there to listen. The problem I have is I do not like to write. We will see how this blogging goes.
